Two fathers Taiwanese drama review

Two Fathers is a drama based on the normal but challenging lives of two families. The first one, consisting of Tang Xiang Xie (the Daddy), Wen Zhen Hua (the Pappi) and Tang Wendi (the little daughter), is Taiwan's most untraditional family one can ever set eyes upon. The two fathers are often mistaken as gays (that just adds to one of the many hilarious moments that pop up often throughout the drama), when they're only friends who had a shared past with Wendi's mother. After Wendi's birth her mother left her in the custody of the any one of them, whoever was ready to take her in. Unsure who was the real father both of them decide to raise the baby girl together, since none of the either was ready to give her up. Xian Xie being a successful attorney and Zhen Hua owning a popular flower shop, were luckily able to provide more than enough for their daughter. Now Wendi becomes eight years old and the story begins.

The second one, the Fang Family; consisting of Fang Jing Zhu (second oldest daughter) Fang Fie Zhu (the oldest son), Fang Qui Zhu (the youngest son), Papa Fang and Mama Fang. Being a normal yet unique family, the Fangs have a place of their own in the story.

The story follows the everyday life and problems of the two families, exhibiting love, kindness, friendship and strong relations that are not made by blood but affection.

Character reviews:

Tang Wendi (played by Le Le) : Having two loving fathers, Wendi feels there is no need for her to have a mother, but secretly she wishes for her mother return to her. Being only eight years old, she is also a little mature than her age. When her Daddy tells her that her mother is the brightest star in the sky, she explains to her teacher that she knew her Daddy was only saying it to make her happy.
Wendi: "how can anyone's mother be a star?"
Her thoughts are touching yet heartbreaking. She is brave when she gets mocked for having two fathers or no mother. Taking other people's feelings into account all the time, she puts her loved ones before her self. She also studies heartily, works hard and is always ready to help. All in all, Wendi is raised well by her Fathers, this adorable character is the magnet that will attract anyone to watch this drama.

Tang Xiang Xie (played by Yang Leroy) : After accepting Wendi into his life, Xiang Xie felt like his personality and luck had changed. From being a hard shelled loner he becomes a fun loving Daddy for her daughter. Having a hard past with his father, struggling with his mother and having no proper family, Xiang Xie was a stranger to such responsibilities or love. But as he brought up Wendi with his old friend Zhen Hua, he begins to understand that there is no love comparable to the one these two had for him. That allows him to forgive his unfit father and bond later on. The hilarious, emotional and childish character of Xiang Xie will make you love him and his flaws.

Wen Zhen Hua (played by Ling Yo Wie) : While being a quiet florist, there wasn't much to worry about in Zhen Hua's life. But when he got the call that a baby girl is born and she might be his daughter, his kind and caring character could not bare to run away from this confusing and surprising yet enormous news. After seeing the little baby girl, he fell in love with her (even if he wasn't sure if she was his daughter or not). Raising her up with his friend Xiang Xie, there were a lot of responsibilities Zhen Hua took on. Taking all the work of a house wife, bringing up Wendi and along with keeping his job as a florist, Zhen Hua became an occupied family guy. Wise, kind, caring and uptight are the only words I can use to describe the loveable character of Zhen Hua.

Fang Jing Zhu (Played by Megan Lai) :  Jing Zhu is Wendi's elementary school teacher, who looks serious in her work and teaches the kids well. In normal life, Jing Zhu is a fun loving Tomboy. Her outstanding personality attracts Wendi's two Daddies, until eventually at one point Zhen Hua gives up on her and feels like Xiang Xie should have her instead. After knowing about Wendi having no mother, she also takes it on herself to make the little girl feel secure in the school's environment where children are bound to speak unsuitable things (because they don't know any better). Terrible at driving, candy craving, loud, expressive and intelligent character of Jing Zhu makes her my favourite in the story! ( oh and Megan Lai is also very pretty!!!)

Along with all the other characters like Young Jie, Mie Nu, Fie Zhu, Qui Zhu, Lawyer Jian and Papa Mama Fang, the drama excels in making it's way into your heart.
